Photos: GCOM-C1 & SLATS Pre-Launch Processing

The GCOM-C1 (Global Change Observation Mission for Climate) and SLATS (Super-Low Altitude Test Satellite) undergo final processing and testing before shipment to the Tanegashima Space Center for a shared ride into orbit atop an H-IIA rocket in late 2017. The two-metric ton GCOM-C1 joins Japan’s GCOM project tasked with the collection of long-term measurements relevant for climate assessments while SLATS is a promising test mission that could open up previously undeveloped orbital real estate in the 200 to 300 Kilometer altitude range.
