A Chinese Long March 2D will launch the third and fourth GaoJing satellites to join the commercial SuperView Earth Observation Constellation inaugurated in December 2016 with the launch of the first two satellites. Operated by Siwei Star Co. Ltd, the operational constellation will consist of 16 optical-imaging satellites with a 0.5-meter ground resolution, four optical satellites achieving a resolution better than 0.5m, four Very-High-Resolution X-Band radar satellites and multiple Micro Video and Hyperspectral satellites to deliver a variety of data products.
The Gaojing satellites each weigh in at 560 Kilograms and are based on the CAST-3000B satellite platform which enables the satellites to support highly agile image collection through rapid re-orientation maneuvers.
