A flight-proven SpaceX Falcon 9 will lift the SES 12 communications satellite for the Luxembourg-based satellite operator, marking the sixth SES satellite riding up on a Falcon 9 rocket. SES 12 is based on the EuroStar-3000EOR all-electric satellite platform and is the largest satellite to date for the company. It hosts a powerful payload comprising 68 active Ku-Band and eight Ka-Band transponders to deliver broadband communications to a large coverage zone spanning from Africa to Australia and covering the majority of Asia. Falcon will be re-using the B1040 first stage that flew the X-37B OTV-5 mission in September 2017.
