Photos: Soyuz lights up the Night

Temperatures were well below zero Celsius when Soyuz rumbled to life and lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 20:20 UTC on November 17, 2016, carrying into orbit a crew from Russia, France and the U.S. on a half-year mission living and working aboard the International Space Station. Veteran Soyuz commander Oleg Novitskiy, NASA’s Peggy Whitson returning to ISS for her third mission, and ESA’s Thomas Pesquet are booked for a 178-day stay on ISS supporting a busy increment filled with science, cargo traffic and spacewalks.
