Photos: Soyuz U blasts off on Final Climb to Orbit

Russia’s venerable Soyuz U rocket made its final launch on Wednesday, carrying into orbit the Progress MS-05 ISS resupply spacecraft, putting an end to a 44-year career. Soyuz U was inaugurated in 1973 as an improved version of the original Soyuz rocket, becoming the undisputed workhorse of the Russian space program.
