Russia’s venerable Soyuz U rocket made its final launch on Wednesday, carrying into orbit the Progress MS-05 ISS resupply spacecraft, putting an end to a 44-year career.

Russia’s final Soyuz U rocket rolled out to Site 1/5 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in the early hours of February 20, 2017 in preparation for liftoff with the Progress MS-05 cargo mission to the International Space Station.

Engineers at the Baikonur Cosmodrome put the Progress MS-05 cargo spacecraft through a final processing campaign at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in preparation for a February 2017 liftoff to the International Space Station.
