Photos: GSLV Mk.III Rollout for High-Profile Demonstration Mission

India’s GSLV Mk.III rocket – aspiring to become the country’s most powerful launch vehicle – rolls out to the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Center for a long-awaited demonstration mission. The Mk.III rocket flew a sub-orbital shakedown mission in late 2014 that demonstrated the rocket’s twin boosters and hypergolic core stage, but did not feature an operational upper stage. The D1 mission is the first all-up test of the new rocket – including the C25 cryo stage – carrying into orbit the GSAT-19 communications satellite.
