Photos: JPSS-1 Satellite Assembly & Testing

The first satellite of NASA & NOAA’s Joint Polar Satellite System is assembled by Ball Aerospace and integrated with five meteorological instruments to collect data for operational weather forecasting and climate science. The 2,540-Kilogram satellite uses Ball’s BCP-2000 satellite platform and is a close copy of the successful Suomi NPP satellite, set to provide replacement coverage for NPP to extend the availability of vital meteorological measurements into the 2020s.
