Vostochny Cosmodrome, Oblast Amur, Russia, 676470

The Vostochny Cosmodrome is a Russian space port in Amur Oblast, located in Russia’s far east to reduce the country’s dependency on the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Built on the grounds of the former Svobodny Cosmodrome, the facility will support Soyuz and Angara launch operations as well as crewed missions and Russia’s future heavy-lift launch vehicle. Vostochny supported its first launch in 2016 and will be phased into regular Soyuz operations over the coming years while the Angara launch facility is scheduled for completion in 2021.
