Launch Complex 39B
Crawlerway, Merritt Island, FL, USA
Launch Complex 39B at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center is a NASA Launch Pad controlled under the Multi-User Spaceport established at KSC. The pad opened for business back in 1969 when it hosted its only Saturn V mission, sending the Apollo 10 mission on its way toward Lunar Orbit. The complex supported four Saturn IB launches, 53 missions of the Space Shuttle and the Ares I-X test flight. Heading into its next phase of operations, LC-39B was converted to a clean pad concept to host different launch vehicles including NASA’s Space Launch System.
