Plesetsk Site 133/3

Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia

Site 133/3 is an orbital space launch site at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia’s prime military launch base. The single launch pad at the complex was originally designated Site 133/1 before being re-named. It opened for operations in 1967 and hosted Kosmos-2 and Kosmos-3 launch vehicles through 1994. The complex was re-built in the 90s as a surface launch pad for the Rockot launch vehicle, requiring a Mobile Service Tower for vertical payload integration that distinguishes Rockot from most Russian launch vehicles.
