Photos: Classified NROL-42 Satellite Installed on Atlas V Rocket

The classified NROL-42 satellite rolls up to Space Launch Complex 3E at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California to be hoisted atop its Atlas V 541 launch vehicle for a September 2017 liftoff. NROL-42, in all likelihood, is an electronic intelligence-gathering satellite operating in a highly elliptical orbit to complement collection by geostationary satellites via optimized look angles for high-latitude targets.
