The second Ariane 5 of 2018 rolls out from its Final Assembly Building to the ELA-3 launch site at the Guiana Space Center on April 4th in preparation for liftoff with the Superbird 8 / DSN-1 and HYLAS 4 satellites for Japan’s SKY Perfect JSAT/DSN Corp. and London-based Avanti Communications. Flying under the designation VA242, Ariane 5 will be tasked with a standard GTO deliver comprising 25 minutes of powered flight and a 9-minute ballistics phase to send its two payloads on their way. The mission marks the return to flight after a January flight anomaly on the VA241 mission.
