Events at this location

Site 81/24 is one of two active launch pads for the Proton rocket, located at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Hosting is first Proton launch in 1967, Pad 24 has supported over 80 missions including notable Salyut launches in the 1970s. Currently, Pad 24 is mainly used for Proton launches for the Russian Government.
