Impressive Photos of Vega’s Nighttime Blastoff from South America

Europe’s Vega rocket blasted off from the ZLV launch site at the Guiana Space Center at 1:49 UTC on March 7, 2017, racing into the night skies over the space base to lift the Sentinel-2B satellite into orbit for the European Copernicus Program tasked with the collection of complete, timely and accurate Earth observation parameters. Sentinel-2B enjoyed a smooth ride into orbit, embarking on its mission 57 minutes after liftoff, marking the successful completion of the ninth Vega mission and the third Arianespace launch of 2017.
